When Michael first reached out to our team at Daor Design, he and his team had already built a successful, Silicon Valley technology company. However, they were still using their original website from over 20 years ago that no longer reflected the company’s service offerings and was not mobile-friendly. After realizing he was embarrassed to send people to his website at a recent conference, Michael decided it was time to finally update his brand and website. Over the next few months, our team worked closely with Michael and his team to refresh the existing brand to maintain years of hard-earned brand recognition and completely overhaul the website with a fresh design, keyword-optimized content, and an SEO boost. I run a small high tech engineering company, however we last updated our website in 2006 and our logo predated that. We needed a fresh start. While we wanted a new website, what really sold Daor to us was their focus on branding.
Their approach is to lead their customers through a series of steps to establish a consistent brand that is bigger than just the website and which can be applied to everything a company might do. That consistency of brand is something we desperately needed. For example, one of their deliverables was a corporate style guide, which has already become a mandatory reference when making a presentation or document at my company. Other deliverables in our package included everything from business cards to customized email signatures and even social media banner pictures.
Work with Daor begins by filling out a questionnaire that they then use to figure out branding and website design. If you work with them, I encourage you to take this questionnaire very seriously, as this becomes the driving document for the work they do. We spent quite a bit of time on this document and we feel that helped the process go as smoothly as possible. It also gave us a chance to debate internally how we thought we should present our company, which was a very valuable learning experience.
Website design was a very easy process and we are absolutely thrilled with the result. We are especially impressed with their graphic artist who managed to find fantastic stock photography that was relevant to our highly technical field. Their copy editor put my scattered thoughts into well edited prose. They worked to make our website compliant with privacy laws in the US and abroad. And at a technical level the website seems to function really well.
